Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of protection to your Region Online account beyond your password. This page explains how to enable 2FA using an authenticator app, how to save your backup recovery codes, how trusted device management works, and how to disable 2FA if you no longer want it active.

How Two-Factor Authentication Works

When 2FA is enabled, signing in to The Region Online requires two things: your password and a 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app. This means that even if someone obtains your password, they can’t access your account without also having your authenticator device. The Region Online uses the industry-standard Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) protocol, which is compatible with authenticator apps including:
  • Google Authenticator
  • Authy
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • 1Password
  • Any TOTP-compatible authenticator app

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

1

Open Your Security Settings

Sign in to your Region Online account and navigate to your account settings. Select the Security or Two-Factor Authentication section.
2

Start the 2FA Setup

Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication. The Region Online generates a unique QR code and a manual setup key for your account.
3

Scan the QR Code with Your Authenticator App

Open your authenticator app on your mobile device and add a new account. Most apps offer a Scan QR Code option — use it to scan the QR code displayed on screen. If your app doesn’t support QR scanning, tap Enter a Setup Key (or similar) in the app and manually type the alphanumeric setup key shown on the page.Your authenticator app will begin generating 6-digit codes for your Region Online account.
4

Enter the 6-Digit Verification Code

In your authenticator app, find the current 6-digit code for your Region Online account. Type that code into the verification field on The Region Online setup page and click Verify.
TOTP codes refresh every 30 seconds. If the code expires before you submit it, simply use the next code your app generates.
5

Save Your Backup Recovery Codes

After verification succeeds, The Region Online displays a set of one-time backup recovery codes. These codes let you access your account if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.
Save your backup recovery codes somewhere secure — such as a password manager, an encrypted notes app, or a printed copy stored in a safe place. Each backup code can only be used once. If you use all of them or lose them, you may be locked out of your account permanently.
Click I’ve Saved My Codes (or similar) to confirm and complete the 2FA setup.

Two-Factor Authentication Is Now Active

2FA is enabled on your account. The next time you sign in, The Region Online will prompt you for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app after you enter your password.

Trusted Device Management

When signing in with 2FA enabled, you’ll see an option to Trust this device for 30 days. Selecting this option skips the 2FA prompt on that device for 30 days, so you don’t need to enter a code every time you sign in from a personal device you use regularly. How it works:
  • Trusted status is stored per device and per browser. Clearing your browser cookies or switching browsers removes the trust.
  • After 30 days, the device trust expires and you’ll be prompted for a 2FA code on your next sign-in.
  • Only enable trusted device on personal devices — never on shared or public computers.
To view or revoke trusted devices, go to your account Security settings and find the Trusted Devices section. Click Revoke next to any device to remove its trusted status immediately.

What to Do If You Lose Access to Your Authenticator

If you lose your phone, delete your authenticator app, or otherwise can’t generate a 2FA code, you can still regain access to your Region Online account using your backup recovery codes. To sign in with a recovery code:
  1. On the 2FA prompt during sign-in, click Use a Backup Code or Having trouble?
  2. Enter one of your unused backup recovery codes.
  3. You’ll be signed in. Recovery codes are single-use — the code you entered is now invalid.
If you’ve also lost your backup codes: Contact The Region Online support directly for account recovery assistance. Be prepared to verify your identity using the email address associated with your account. After recovering access, set up 2FA again with your new device and generate a fresh set of backup codes. Store them somewhere secure this time.

Disable Two-Factor Authentication

If you need to turn off 2FA, follow these steps:
1

Open Security Settings

Sign in and go to your account Security settings.
2

Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication

Find the Two-Factor Authentication section and click Disable 2FA.
3

Confirm with a Verification Code

Enter a current 6-digit code from your authenticator app (or a backup recovery code) to confirm that you intend to disable 2FA.
4

2FA Is Removed

Two-factor authentication is now disabled. Signing in will only require your email and password until you re-enable it.
Disabling 2FA reduces the security of your account. Anyone who obtains your password will be able to sign in without a second verification step. Re-enable 2FA as soon as possible if you disable it temporarily.
